I know a woman like that

We are less than three weeks away from the launch of our 1st Annual public education campaign, “Smart is Sexy.”  Our campaign is designed to engage, empower and educate young people concerning negative stereotypes that suppress student achievement. Especially stereotypes affecting women.

Please join us for a special film screening of “I Know a Woman Like That” with Emmy®-award winning documentary filmmaker Elaine Madsen, followed by an exclusive fashion exhibition sponsored by Hasana, Inc. on Friday, June 24th at 6:00 p.m. at Columbia College's Film Row Cinema!

The Aparecio Foundation is excited to partner with The Film and Media Department of Columbia College to honor Elaine Madsen for her exceptional work as a documentary filmmaker.

She most recently completed directing and writing her new documentary "I Know a Woman Like That," produced by her Academy® Award-nominated daughter Virginia Madsen's Title IX Productions. The film was recognized by the Rhode Island International Film Festival with their "Helping Hand International Humanitarian Award," given annually to a film or filmmaker that inspires social change, community outreach and a better understanding of the world in which we live.

When the film screened at the Chicago International Film Festival, Roger Ebert cited it as "transformative .......and extraordinary.

Elaine is the mother of actors Virginia and Michael Madsen and their Wisconsin-based writer/community activist sister, Cheri Borowiec.

There will be several great raffle items including a Smart Car, courtesy of Loeber Motors and a LG 50" Plasma Smart TV from Abt Electronics!  Please see below for the details to the event and to purchase your tickets
