On June 1st, 2011 the performers of Aloft Circus Arts mesmerized and thrilled the guests at the Chicago Peninsula Hotel's anniversary party; stilted performers greeted the guests outside, while inside the guests were treated to top-tier aerial and ground performances throughout the evening.  Once considered as taboo, the circus arts are quickly gaining popularity as both an alternative to traditional workout programs and a unique form of entertainment for parties, conferences or other special events.

Aloft Circus Arts, founded by Shayna Swanson in 2005, is a collective of earth-bound and aerial circus artists; the group is one of the most diverse and talented in the country.

“Aerial training not only provides a unique workout experience, but it allows everyone to explore amazing feats they are surprised they can accomplish,” Aloft Company Director and founder Shayna Swanson explains.  “Now more in demand than ever, the performers of Aloft Circus Arts needed an even bigger space to hone their death-defying talents.  Opening this new studio space allows us to offer more opportunities for our students and professional performers,” says Swanson.

The Aloft Loft, located just west of downtown Chicago, boasts over 8,000 square feet of training and teaching space, making it the largest independently owned and operated circus training facility in the Midwest. Daily classes for adults offer training in multiple circus disciplines including static trapeze, silks, lyra, as well as ground-based classes such as tightwire, german wheel, hula hoops and acrobatics. With classes kept to a small number of students, personalized instruction with professional aerialists is ensured.

Aloft Circus Arts also provides entertainment, master classes and original shows for clients such as Mori Seiki, Macy's, SCA Paper, the Indy/Izod 500, and a host of other institutions in both the educational, public and private sectors of the United States and abroad.  In addition, Aloft has created and self produced 4 shows that were met with critical acclaim and sold-out runs.
